A rare dwarf species restricted to the Bahamas and currently only known from Eleuthera Island. A similar species was once combined with angustifolia and is native to Eastern Cuba but angustifolia is now considered distinct. Graceful, plume-like leaves or fronds grow to about 20 inches long in sun, longer in shade and arch somewhat. The leaflets are very long, narrow and keeled and are bronzy red at emergence. The caudex is spindle shaped and fully subterranean. A fast grower that can mature and cone in three years. In nature this species lives near the shore in open areas of forest on rocky red soils. Easy to cultivate in pots on in the ground in warm areas.

Note: This plant is on C.I.T.E.S. and cannot be exported.
