Vermiculite is similar to perlite in that its made from naturally occurring minerals that expand upon heating. It offers the same aeration properties as perlite but better retains moisture and nutrients for longer lasting root hydration between waterings. Ideal for seed germinated and is often mixed with a seed compost for best results.
