Venus Slipper Orchid blooms in late winter or spring and has a single flower thats white with purple and green markings and a purple pouch. It has distinctive black spotting on the lower petals. The Venus Slipper Orchid flower lasts about 8 weeks. Pointed, green, mottled leaves only grow 6-9 tall, so it makes an ideal windowsill specimen for a north or east window. Grow in well-drained potting bark and perlite and make sure the plant doesnt sit in a saucer of water. The mother plant sends out baby plants at the base.
