Tricyrtis formosana ‘Samurai’ has upright, arching stems of shiny green leaves with creamy-gold edges. Its small orchid-like blooms with dark purple spots and yellow throats appear in branched clusters in the upper leaf axils and at the stem tips. Tricyrtis formosana ‘Samurai’ has a vigorous, rhizomatous habit. Plant this perennial near wood’s edge or path side where its unique blooms can be appreciated.

Tricyrtis formosana prefers partial to full, even dense, shade, and medium to wet, humus-rich, well drained soils. Although it is drought tolerant, for best appearance do not allow the soil to dry out.
