Tillandsia pruinosa, commonly known as the Fuzzywuzzy air plant, is a distinctive epiphytic species appreciated for its unique appearance and adaptability to indoor environments. Its slender, contorted leaves are covered with fine, silvery trichomes, giving the plant a frosted, velvety texture. These trichomes aid in moisture absorption and protect the plant from intense sunlight. When in bloom, T. pruinosa produces tubular purple flowers on a short pink inflorescence, adding a splash of colour to its silvery foliage.

This species is native to a wide range of regions, including northern South America, Central America, southern Mexico, the West Indies, and Florida. It typically grows epiphytically in shady, humid hammocks at altitudes ranging from sea level to over 1,000 metres. Its natural habitat’s warm and humid conditions make it well-suited for indoor cultivation in the UK when provided with appropriate care.

Native to:
Northern South America, Central America, southern Mexico, the West Indies, and Florida.

Water:
Mist the leaves 34 times per week, ensuring the plant dries within a few hours to prevent rot. Alternatively, soak the plant in water for 510 minutes once a week, then shake off excess water and allow it to dry completely. Use rainwater or distilled water to avoid mineral build-up.

Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burn. Artificial grow lights can supplement natural light if necessary.

Humidity:
Thrives in humidity levels of 6080%. Regular misting or the use of a humidifier can help maintain these levels. Its compact size and humidity preference make it ideal for terrarium cultivation.

Temperature:
Performs best in temperatures between 1527C. Protect from temperatures below 10C and avoid placing near cold drafts.
