Though thyme has been an integral part of the cuisines from whence it comes Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa this one is not the culinary thyme, Thymus vulgaris. Stems are clad with tiny, glossy green leaves, variably aromatic according to conditions, and it is evergreen. Very cold-tolerant.
‘Elfin’ is virtually covered with tiny pink flowers in early spring, to the delight and ecstasy of bees (honey and bumble) and butterflies. 1 2 inches T x 1 2 feet W
