One of the family of Lilacs. This is a compact deciduous, upright shrub with dark green leaves. In spring it has panicles of fragrant, pale purple flowers that fade to almost white. Best grown in a sunny position in a moist yet well drained soil.

• When planting this shrub in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If suitable for containers then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
