Sweet cicely is a hardy herbaceous perennial plant with fern-like leaves and it’s widely used for teas and food flavouring. It grows up to 1 – 1.5m in height and up to 1m in spread and thrives best in sheltered partial shade south or east facing position in moist, but well drained fertile neutral soil. Umbels of small white flowers emerge in early summer, followed by aniseed-scented fruits.

When grown in containers we recommend a good quality multipurpose compost is used. Plants should be fed during the growing season with a liquid feed as per the manufacturers instructions.
