Spotted Blue Eye Rainbowfish

The Spotted Blue-Eye Rainbowfish is a beautifully delicate small rainbowfish. They only grow to 1.5. They inhabit shallow heavily vegetated slow-moving streams or standing waters with submerged branches, roots, or leaf litter. They prefer warm temperatures 70-83^o F.In nature they can be found in Papua New Guinea and nearby territories.

They enjoy the waterto be stained with tannins (Almond leaves would be perfect as cover as well). Some floating plants such as Salvinia also give them a sense of calm. Java Moss is great to give the eggs and fry cover since the adults will try and eat them.

Spotted Blue-Eye Rainbowfish prefer to be kept in small groups of 8-10 individuals. We feed them a large variety of foods which include finely ground Northfin flake foods, small Northfin pellets (veggie, community, & bug pro), frozen foods. Their scientific name is Pseudomugil gertrudae.
