Commonly known as “Indian pinks,” ‘Ragin Cajun’ is a beautiful cultivated variety of Spigelia marilandica, which is native to the eastern United States. Whereas the normal species and ‘Little Redhead’ (a popular variety) have deep red flowers, ‘Ragin Cajun’ has brilliant orange-red, and a more rounded habit. Its upright flowers with bright yellow centers are highly attractive to hummingbirds.
