Rotala indica is actually a really old plant that has been around since 1890. Also known as Rotala bossi.

It grows straight up which makes for neat planting and a satisfying growing style. With the right sort of lighting (bright), it shows purple-type colours on the top of the plant that is attractive and easy on the eye. It doesn’t take up much space in the aquarium so you’ll probably need a few pots for best effect.

It doesn’t grow particularly fast which is actually a nice feature as you won’t need to trim it too often. When you do, simply replant any cuttings. You will need bright lighting for this plant to really become established so LED lighting is quite suitable.
