Golden-yellow and asymmetrical, ‘Gold Drift’ is a highly sculptural conifer, a weeping vertical form if encouraged in that direction, or rambling over the terrain if left to its devices. Its color is variable: lime green new growth in spring, brilliant yellow in summer, and softer winter. Fast-growing at 12 15″/yr; 6′ tall (if staked) and 3′ wide in 10 years; ultimately perhaps 12′ tall. This is a sport of Picea abies ‘Reflexa’ found in 1990 by Bob Fincham. While it tolerates full sun, protection from brutal rays is in order while it’s young.
Minimum temperature: -50 F
