A glossy evergreen plant with long rounded deep leaves. New growth is bright scarlet red that fades with age through pink to deep green. Scented white flowers in springtime. Best grown in sun or partial shade in a moist yet well drained soil

• When planting this shrub in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If suitable for containers then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
