Phlox stolonifera ‘Home Fires’ produces masses of large deep pink, fragrant blooms on stems that rise above the foliage. ‘Home Fires’ has deep green, narrow, leathery leaves on trailing stolons that form a nice semi-evergreen perennial ground cover for shade or woodland gardens. Its early spring blooms will attract queen bumble bees and other early pollinators.

Phlox stolonifera is native to the eastern United States from Maine to Ohio and south along the Appalachians to Alabama and Georgia. It naturally occurs in deciduous woodlands, along stream banks and on shaded rocky slopes, mostly in the mountains.

Phlox stolonifera ‘Home Fires’ prefers light shade and moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Bloom stems may be cut back after flowering to prevent self-sowing and to encourage fresh foliage.
