Philodendron brevispathum is an extremely rare Philodendron known for its long, slender leaves that can reach up to 60 cm in length. This is probably the first ever release in the UK! The leaves are deep green with silver mottling, sometimes with a slightly leathery texture, and have a distinctive heart shape with a pointed tip. This plant typically grows as a climber, making it ideal for growing on a moss pole indoors.

Native to: It is native to the tropical rainforests of South America, particularly in Brazil and surrounding regions.

Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, and reduce watering during cooler months.

Light: This Philodendron prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light levels. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Humidity: High humidity is ideal, generally around 60-80%, though it can adapt to typical indoor conditions. Regular misting or using a humidifier can help maintain the necessary humidity.

Temperature: Optimal temperatures range from 18C to 24C. Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperatures below 15C, as it is sensitive to cold.
