Orange Venezuelan Corydoras | Venezuelan Cory

Orange Venezuelan Corydoras are one of the most stunning cory species we keep. Their bright orange color is what draws so many hobbyists to them. They do best when kept in groups and are very peaceful, making them a great choice for community aquariums. In our experience, they are also very hardy and easy to care for. They eat a wide variety of foods, which weve listed below.

Orange vs. Black Venezuelan Corydoras

Orange Venezuelan Corydoras are closely related to the Black Venezuelan Cory, and they share many of the same traits. Both types have a similar body shape and size, but the Orange version stands out with its bright color. If youve kept Black Venezuelan Cories before, youll find these just as easy to care for.

Natural Coloration

The orange coloration shown in this Venezuelan Cory is actually naturally occurring. To really bring out their orange, we recommend feeding them a balanced diet and keeping them on a dark substrate. Light-colored gravel tends to dull their colors. When it comes to orange in Corydoras, this is one of the best examples weve seen. If youre thinking about setting up a fall-themed aquarium, these are a perfect choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many Orange Venezuelan Corydoras should I keep together?

Orange Venezuelan Corydoras are social fish and do best in groups of 5 or more. If you have other types of corydoras, they will often school together and feel more comfortable.

Are Orange Venezuelan Corydoras peaceful with other fish?

Yes, Venezuelan Cory’s in general are very peaceful and make great tank mates in any community aquarium.

Will Orange Venezuelan Corydoras eat shrimp?

They rarely bother shrimp. Corydoras species in general may accidentally eat baby shrimp while scavenging or during feeding time, but weve never seen them actively hunt juvenile or adult shrimp.

What do Orange Venezuelan Corydoras eat?

Our Corydoras enjoy a mix of NorthFin flakes, pellets, and frozen foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp.

How big do Orange Venezuelan Corydoras get?

They grow to about 2.5 inches long as adults. We usually sell them at around 1 to 1.5 inches.

Do Venezuelan Corys need sand, or can I use gravel?

Venezuelan Corys do best on sand because its gentle on their barbels. Smooth gravel can work if its not sharp, and we also keep them in bare-bottom tanks with no issues.
