Neoregelia ‘Winnie The Pooh’ One of my best Neoregelias. This is a hybrid between ‘Treasure Chest’ and ‘Olens’. It is quite small growing, 8 to 12 inches diameter and has great shape and excellent color with strawberry red leaves and big green to yellow spots.

Neoregelia’s are very easy to grow they can be mounted with some moss and bark to root into or they can be grown in a pot, which i prefer to do as it allows for easy maintenance of the plant. The correct potting medium for most ‘tank type’ Bromeliads such as Aechmea, Billbergia and Neoregelia is a free draining mix comprising of Peat and potting/orchid bark.

Neoregelias can be grown in high light levels, in fact the more bright light you give them the more intense the coloring on the leaves can become. Although you have to be a bit careful because plants can get scorched in full mid summer sun. Generally more stiff, thick or harder leaved species can take the full sun and softer leaves less

Neoregelia Winnie the Pooh is a small-sized bromeliad that is perfect fora 10 to 20 gallon, 12x12x18 to 18x18x18 or 18x18x24 tanks. These can be used in smaller enclosures as well. This bromeliad isbright greenwith red splotching and lines that increase in intensity under high light. One of our favorites! Bromeliads are epiphytic and will send roots out in order to attach to other plants, rocks, or backgrounds. Bromeliads also hold water in their leaves, providing deposition sites for tadpoles. For this reason, we do not recommend planting this Bromeliad in the substrate; if they are watered from the bottom and top, the core can rot. Many dart frogs, especially Oophaga, rely on these plants (and film canisters in captivity) for breeding. Bromeliads form pups from the mature plant and will clump together. Please add fresh water to your bromeliads at least weekly, and allow them adequate ventilation. If you do not have ventilation, we do not recommend keeping them fully filled with water.
