This is a compact, upright, dense, evergreen shrub bearing pinnate leaves with lance-shaped, dark green leaflets, bright red when young, and conical panicles of small white flowers in summer. Best grown in a sheltered sunny site in a moist yet well drained soil.

• When planting this shrub in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If suitable for containers then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
