It is a cultivar of Lavandula angustifolia, which is the species of lavender that is native to southern Europe. ‘Munstead’ lavender is a perennial shrub that grows to be about 18 inches tall and wide. It has slender, gray-green leaves and spikes of fragrant, blue-purple flowers that bloom in summer. The flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinators.
