The botanical name of this succulent is *Hoya retusa*. In German, it is known as *Wachsblume* (wax flower) or *Porzellanblume* (porcelain flower). The succulent belongs to the genus *Hoya*, which is part of the Apocynaceae family. This succulent is native to India and Indonesia.
Hoya retusa is an evergreen plant with a trailing growth habit. The flower is white with a red center and star-shaped. It blooms from May to October. You will receive a plant in a 12cm pot, with a total height of approximately 20cm (including pot and plant) when hanging.
Caring for Hoya retusa is relatively simple. A mixture of cactus and succulent soil is suitable as a substrate. Hoya retusa does not tolerate waterlogging, so you should ensure good drainage and allow the substrate to dry out before watering again. Generally, this succulent tolerates less water rather than too much. Fertilizing is possible once a month, or every four weeks.
This succulent needs a sunny to bright location to meet its light requirements. The optimal temperature is between 20C and 30C. Hoya retusa can spend the summer outdoors after being gradually acclimated to direct sunlight. In winter, the temperature should be around 15C. Furthermore, fertilizing is stopped and watering is reduced. However, this succulent is not suitable for the garden.
This succulent can be propagated by stem cuttings. Hoya retusa has a milky sap to which some people are allergic. We cannot guarantee compatibility with animals.
Please note: Sizes and shapes may vary for plants, as each item is unique. This is especially true in winter or when availability is low. The color also varies depending on the season.
