The leaves of Hosta ‘Appletini’ Plantain Lily resemble waxy green apples, starting out yellow and maturing to chartreuse by late summer. Lavender colored blooms appear on tall scapes above the foliage in summer.
While hostas can be drought-tolerant, they perform best when grown in moist, fertile soil. They can be grown in clay soils and under black walnut trees. Filtered shade or morning sun and afternoon shade is preferred for the best color.
Hosta ‘Appletini’ Plantain Lily would be excellent for edging pathways or in a mixed container planting of miniature hostas.
