A complete bioactive terrarium kit for the Thamnophis species, or most commonly known as Garter Snakes!

Garter snakes belong to the genus Thamnophis, and is a common name for a multitude of different species and subspecies spanning across Northern and Central America. Coming in an array of different shapes, sizes, and colors, they are commonly kept by hobbyists due to their communal behavior in the wild.

Outdoors, you can find that this snake has a strange behavior unique to them; they can form communities that can be as large as 50 individuals at a time! They also are known to migrate long distances to find proper den sites, called hibernacula, where they will brumate during the colder months with others of their kind. Even though this behavior is observed in this species,NOT ALL Garters can do this safely so please make sure to know and check if your species of Garter can be housed with others before doing so!

With The Dude’s Terra Firma, you are able to recreate a habitat that makes your Garter Snakes feel more secure. Microflora is included (BioShot), we recommend supplementing with Tropical springtails and Isopods for microfauna. Not only will the substrate retain all tunnels, burrows, and hidey-holes that your snake creates, but it also allows them to do what they like to do best as critters!
