Speculation is it may be a hybrid of the Euphorbia amygdaloides ‘Purpurea’ andEuphorbia ‘Blackbird’ which were growing nearby. The older foliage matures to a deep green while retaining the dark red color on the reversegiving the plant an overall dark appearance.
