Eryngium planum ‘Blue Hobbit’ is a dwarf cultivar of sea holly with steely blue flowers. It is a compact plant that grows to about 12 inches tall and wide. The flowers are produced in summer and are held on stiff stems. The leaves are deeply lobed and have a silvery-blue color.

Planting : When planting herbaceous perennials in the open ground we recommend planting with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality tree and shrub compost or peat free compost. If planting in a container we recommend a good quality multi purpose with added John Innes or peat free compost.

Eryngium planum ‘Blue Hobbit’ | Dwarf sea holly with striking, bright purple-blue cone-shaped flowers surrounded by spiky bracts. Its has silvery foliage. The dried flowerheads can be left to provide winter interest.Best grown in sunny, well-drained position.
Mature height 30cm spread 60cm. Loved by bees and butterflies. We showcased this Eryngium in our very first display, over a decade ago, at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. They were by far our most popular plant at that show and we have been growing them ever since.
