Commonly known as Sea Holly, this thistle-like perennial produces upright, branching stems of thimble-sized, steel-blue flowers surrounded by spiny bracts. From July to early autumn, these long-lasting blooms provide a valuable source of nectar for butterflies and pollinating insects.

Planting : When planting herbaceous perennials in the open ground we recommend planting with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality tree and shrub compost or peat free compost. If planting in a container we recommend a good quality multi purpose with added John Innes or peat free compost.
