• Dryopteris filix mas is a large, deciduous fern that is native to Europe, Asia, and North America. It is a popular garden plant because it is easy to grow and care for. The fronds of Dryopteris filix mas are large and lance-shaped. They are a dull green color and have a slightly wavy appearance. The fronds emerge in the spring and reach their full size in the summer. In the fall, the fronds turn brown and die back.
• Dryopteris filix mas prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade.

Planting : When planting in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If planting in a container then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost with added John Innes. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
