A large perennial fern reaching 50 cm in height. Fronds can reach 1.5 metres in favourable conditions. Commonly used a vegetable in SE Asia. Young fronds are stir-fried or used in salads. Can form a short trunk. Considered to be the most important edible fern in the world. Hardy to UK zone 9.
