Pretty, slow-growing fern with leaves that look a little like a holly bush, native to Japan. It naturally grows from crevices, coastal cliffs, streambanks, rocky slopes, and other moist, stable areas. Shade loving, deer resistant, suitable for container. Drops its leaves after a frost but hardy in 8b.
