A truly magnificent herbaceous perennial, the Cynara cardunculus ‘Romanesco’ is a unique addition to any garden. Its silvery grey leaves, deeply divided edges, and large clump form make it a standout feature. As the leaves mature, they maintain their silvery color, adding to the plant’s beauty. Above the foliage, stiff and stout grey stems tower to reveal large, globular purple thistle heads. These flower heads unravel to reveal fine, pale purple tubular petals, creating a globe of purple. This elegant plant is best grown in a large open area, where it can spread and reach its full potential of 2m in height and 1m in spread.
