Cryptanthus Absolute Zero has nearly-black leaves with repeating bands of silvery-white from the base to the tip of each leaf. The leaves measure about an inch wide and form a short rosette. Cryptanthus are members of the bromeliad family. They are native to the tropical rainforest of South America, where they grow on the forest floor in dappled light. Absolute Zero is a low growing plant, usually only reaching 3-4 tall, but up to 10 wide. It makes a showy plant for your home, patio, deck or rock garden. To ensure the vibrant black and white leaf striping, grow in a sunny location. If grown in shade or low light, the leaves can fade to green.
