This verdantwoodland jewel is native throughout forested areas of Canada, Oregon and Washington where it creates a charming 6″ carpet of diminutive dogwood. Oval, pointed leaves with impressed parallel veins are punctuated by tiny, purple-grey flowers surrounded by their more noticeable, springtime bright white bracts looking like large snowflakes freshly landed. Bright red berries form in fall, equally conspicuous. Ashaded, moist site with excellent drainage and forest duff is required for it to thrive and colonize.
