Commonly called the Fruit-fly Orchid, this striking species is native to Queensland and New Guinea, where it grows as an epiphyte or lithophyte. It forms creeping clumps with widely spaced pseudobulbs, each topped with a single, thick, fleshy leaf.
Additional Notes:
Produces unique, upward-facing flowers 1-1.5″ wide that are cream to creamy yellow with red or purple spots. Named for its sweet, fruity fragrance that attracts male fruit flies for pollination. Features a delicately hinged, mobile lip. Due to its creeping habit, best grown mounted on cork bark or in shallow containers.
