A new variety of Buddleja davidii, also known as Butterfly Bush, ‘Wisteria Lane’ is a stunning addition to any garden. Its hanging pendant panicles of scented lavender flower heads bloom from July to August, with a small yellow throat adding to the overall effect. This medium-sized shrub is perfect for a mixed border and is highly attractive to bees and butterflies.
With a height of up to 1.5m and a spread that can easily be maintained to the same size, this deciduous shrub has lance-shaped grey-green foliage and produces beautiful lavender-blue flowers in late summer. It thrives in well-drained, sandy, loam, chalk, or clay soil and can be planted in a full sun to partial shade position.
Hardy to H6 (-15), Buddleja davidii ‘Wisteria Lane’ requires minimal care. Deadheading the flowers will prolong the flowering period, and a hard prune in winter (January/February) will help maintain its shape. The plant will be supplied in a 2 litre pot (17cm) and will be securely packed for delivery.
Buddleja’s are not only beautiful, but they are also extremely beneficial to insects. This makes them a valuable addition to any garden. While they are often seen as large plants, there are many different species and varieties that offer a variety of flower types, colors, and sizes. In mid to late summer, the flowers are covered with butterflies, and the yellow varieties are particularly attractive to beneficial insects. This adds a whole new level of interest to the garden and makes it a joy to relax and admire the Buddleja in full bloom.
