Asplenium Birds Nest Fern

Asplenium is a compact variety of Japanese Birds Nest Fern. Ithas a tall show of ruffled green shiny leaves.Aspleniumferns are naturally epiphytic,which means they grow on the surface of other plants. In their natural habitat of the rainforest they can be found growing high in the trees. These guys are a real eye catcher, a lovely addition to your Fern collection!

How to care for your Asplenium–

Water: Water thoroughly during the growing season but less so in the winter. Keep moist but do not allow to stand in water. Birds Nest Ferns are best watered around the plant and not directly onto the soil as watering the centre of the plant may cause it to rot.

Light: They like moderate, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight.

Humidity:They love humidity, would be well suited to a bathroom or kitchen.

Temperature:Theyenjoy warmth, about 20 degrees C.

Asplenium is a genus of Ferns, made up of roughly 600 species, while only a few are regularly found for sale as a houseplant.A. Nidus, and many cultivars of it and closely related species, are some of the most popular houseplants.

Birds-nest ferns can be grown terrestrially, in a pot, or epiphytically, as they would be found growing natively in tropical southeastern Asia, eastern Australia, Hawaii, Polynesia,Christmas Island,India, and eastern Africa.

They are extremely easy to care for, as they tolerate very low light conditions and just need to have moderately moist soil at all times.
