‘Baby Bear’ is believed to be a hybrid seedling between Arctostaphylos bakeri ssp. bakeri and Arctostaphylos densiflora ‘Sentinel’. Bert Wilson from Las Pilitas Nursery selected it as an improvement over ‘Sentinel’ with larger pink flowers. Dark stems with small, narrow, deep green foliage.
