An upright, compact ornamental grass with yellow-green summer foliageblushed with red. In late summer, tall flower spikes arise above the leaf blades. As temperatures cool, the leaf colorturns from red to deep scarlet.

This lovely grass tolerates a wide range of soil conditions, from dry to moist, once established. Regular water while getting established will help the extensive root systems develop, and will then lead to increased drought tolerance in later years. More moisture will also lead to much taller flower spikes — up to 8 feet tall!
