Aerangis pallidiflora Culture

This miniature orchid species is native to Madagascar, where it grows as an epiphyte in humid forests. It is prized for its compact growth habit and its delicate, cream-colored flowers. Unlike other species in the genus, it lacks the long spurs, giving it a unique floral appearance.

  • Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sun exposure should be avoided to prevent leaf burn.
  • Temperature: Thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures. Ideal daytime temperatures are between 21-27C (70-80F), with a slight drop at night to 15-18C (59-64F).
  • Humidity: Requires high humidity, ideally above 60%. Good air circulation is essential to prevent fungal issues.
  • Watering: Watering should be regular, keeping the roots moist but not soggy. It is best to grow this orchid mounted on cork or in a pot with a fast-draining medium, such as fine bark.

Additional Notes

  • Floral Characteristics: Aerangis pallidiflora has small, star-shaped, creamy white to pale yellow flowers. These flowers lack the long spur found on many other Aerangis and have a distinctive green column. They are sweetly fragrant and open sequentially on arching stems, which extends the blooming time.
