Hoya Rope (Hoya carnosa Compacta)
The Hoya Rope, also called Hindu Rope or Krinkle Kurl, is one of the most unique hoya varieties. Its thick, waxy leaves twist and curl along trailing vines, giving it a rope-like appearance thats both unusual and striking. When mature, it can produce clusters of star-shaped, pink and fragrant flowers, making it a favorite among collectors.
Care Tips:
Light: Bright, indirect light encourages growth and blooms; tolerates some direct morning sun
Water: Let soil dry out between waterings; prefers to stay on the drier side
Humidity: Thrives in moderate to high humidity, though it adapts to average household air
Temperature: Prefers warmth (6585F); protect from cold drafts
Pet Friendly: Yes (non-toxic to pets)
Fun Fact: The twisted leaves of Hoya Rope can occasionally show variegation, with cream or pink streaks, in the cultivar Hoya Rope Variegata. This makes them even rarer and more collectible.
