A hardy plant, this hybrid is instantly recognisable for its metallic purple leaf undersides which is why it is commonly called the Purple Umbrella plant. Hybrid with origins in South-East Asia.

• Suspected cross between Alocasia odora & Alocasia gageana.

Growth pattern: Tuberous & bushes outwards

Water: Little and often. Keep moist but not waterlogged.

Ideal Position: South, east or north facing

Light: Medium to bright, indirect light.

Humidity disclaimer: This plant will grow well outside of a terrarium or cabinet. However, all tropical plants thrive with higher humidity levels. To achieve this we suggest grouping plants together, or putting them in a bathroom or kitchen which gets regular use.
