A lace cap variety of Hydrangea, Masja stands out with its large, flat flower heads. Its unique feature is its ability to change color depending on the acidity of the soil – the lower the p.h., the redder the flowers will be. This deciduous shrub grows quickly in the beginning of the season, producing luscious mid to dark green leaves and beautiful pink flowers throughout summer. The flower heads can be left over winter for added interest or trimmed back for a tidy look.
With a height and spread easily maintained at 1.5m and 1m respectively, Masja is a versatile addition to any garden. Its foliage also adds interest in autumn, turning shades of yellow, orange, and red. This hardy shrub thrives in well-drained, clay, or loam soil and can be planted in full sun to partial shade. Once established, it is fully hardy (H5) and can withstand temperatures as low as -10 degrees Celsius.
Available in either a 9cm pot or 2 litre pot, Masja is a medium-growing shrub that reaches a height of 1.5m over 10 years. Add a touch of unique beauty to your garden with Hydrangea macrophylla Masja.
