Looking for a unique addition to your vegetable garden? Look no further than Kale Taunton Deane! This perennial form of Brassica oleracea, also known as Cottager’s Kale or Hungry Gap Kale, is a sought-after variety for its reliable growth and delicious taste.
The plant has a bushy habit with slightly ruffled leaf edges and striking purple veins and stems. We take great care in packaging and shipping our plants, removing many of the leaves to reduce the chance of damage and limit any pests that may be present. But don’t worry, the plant will quickly produce new leaves upon arrival.
Kale Taunton Deane is easily maintained at a height and spread of 1m, with grey-green foliage and purple veining. It thrives in moist, well-drained soil and can be grown in full sun to semi-shade. Once established, it is fully hardy (H7) even in temperatures as low as -15 degrees.
Choose from a 9cm pot or 1 litre pot when ordering. This edible perennial kale is a must-have for any edible gardener, especially during the ‘Hungry Gap’ in spring when there is a shortage of fresh produce. Its evergreen nature allows for year-round harvesting and quick regrowth after harvest. Our plants are grown in 1 litre pots and can be pruned prior to delivery for easier packing.
