Choisya is a small genus of plants with just seven species, all of which are evergreen. Originally from Mexico and the southwest USA, the most famous species, ternata, was introduced in 1825. However, it is the cultivated varieties, such as Choisya Aztec Pearl, White Dazzler, Goldfingers, and Apple Blossom, that truly stand out with their unique colors and characteristics.
One of the most popular varieties in this genus is Choisya ternata Sundance, known for its bright golden yellow leaves. All of these Choisya plants thrive in semi-shade and are evergreen, making them a great addition to any garden. They also respond well to general feeding and mulching, and prefer moist, well-drained soil with good drainage.
With a height and spread of 1.5m, Choisya x dewitteana Goldfingers is easily maintained and can be grown in either a 9cm pot or 2 Litre pot. Its flowering season is traditionally in the spring, but some varieties may have a second flowering in the autumn. This fully hardy plant (H4) is a type of shrub that will add a touch of beauty and fragrance to your garden for years to come.
