Rare Texas native tree! Grown from seed at LSN. Really tolerant plant is drought-resistant, adapted to a variety of soils, tough! Great as an ornamental or shade tree, up to 70′ tall, medium to slow grower at 1-2 feet per year, loves sun. Large seed pods on the male tree in the fall, can be dried and used as a coffee replacement beverage, as Native peoples historically did. Female trees make large and showy blooms.
