Blooming around Valentines Day, Jewel Orchid Red Stripe has a tall flower spike with 7-12 watermelon-red blossoms that last for about a month. The foliage is green with silver stripes and it has a vigorous, fleshy root system. This jewel orchid grows about 8 tall with the flower spike rising another foot and a half. As the plant matures, it becomes a large mound of foliage with multiple flower spikes. Grow in medium-to-low light and fertilize twice a month since its a heavy feeder. Sphagnum moss makes an ideal potting medium since Red Stripe needs to be continually moist and the moss retains water well. We ship blooming size plants that flower in spring.
