Petite perennial with deeply dissected foliage, adding interesting texture to the broad leaves more typical of shade plants, such as Hosta, Bergenia, Brunnera, and Trachystemon. ‘Fairy Hair’ has a similar texture to Astilbe, but can handle more drought (once established). Blooms with creamy white plumes in early summer.

Grows well in many soils, including clay. Prefers part shade or shade, but accepts more sun in areas with summer rain.
