Our western, native version of the Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida) of the East Coast. This is an understory tree or large shrub that adapted under the dark evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest. It boasts classy white blooms of 4-8 large “petal” bracts and a greenish-yellow center of dense floral heads–striking to come across in the forest growing up in a patch of dappled light. A beauty in the garden too!
