Ficus benjamina ‘Evergreen’

Ficus benjamina ‘Evergreen’ is a robust, glossy-leaved cultivar of the classic weeping fig, selected for its improved tolerance to indoor conditions and dense, consistent foliage. Its elegant, arching branches and small, pointed leaves create a soft, flowing canopy that brings life to corners, foyers or open-plan spaces. Unlike older forms, Evergreen resists leaf drop from minor changes in light or watering, making it a more reliable and manageable choice for homes or offices.

Native to Southeast Asia and Australia, Ficus benjamina can reach 23m indoors over time if given the space, though it takes pruning well and can be kept more compact. Its tree-like structure makes it ideal for adding height and green structure to a room.

Care Instructions
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates some early morning or late afternoon sun.
Water: Water when the top 35cm of soil is dry. Avoid overwatering or letting the pot sit in water.
Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity. Benefits from occasional misting in dry homes.
Temperature: Keep above 15C. Protect from cold air, sudden drafts or air-conditioning units.
Fertiliser: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertiliser.
Pruning: Prune to maintain shape or reduce height. Responds well to trimming.
Repotting: Every 23 years or when roots outgrow the pot. Use free-draining, rich potting mix.
Pests: Monitor for scale, spider mites or mealybugs. Wipe leaves regularly to keep clean and pest-free.
