Although this plant is commonly called “avens” like its brothers, ‘Blazing Sunset’ stands apart from other Geum with its fully double, scarlet red flowers. They appear from late spring to midsummer above the fuzzy mounds of evergreen foliage.

It’s not difficult to grow ‘Blazing Sunset’ Geum. It thrives in well-drained, evenly moist soil, but will tolerate drought once it’s established. It is usually resistant to deer. It will appreciate some shade from the hot afternoon sun in southern climates.
