Baptisia x minor ‘Lemon Meringue’ forms an upright, vase-shaped mound of blue-green foliage that is topped with long, charcoal stems of lemon yellow flowers in late spring. The contrast between stem and blooms is striking. Also known as Dwarf False Indigo, ‘Lemon Meringue’ is small enough to fit into most gardens and is rapidly becoming a favorite perennial for landscapers.

Baptisia minor is native to the central and south central United States, where it is typically found on grasslands, in openings in rich woods and thickets and along open stream banks.

Baptisia x minor ‘Lemon Meringue’ prefers sun and average to dry sites. It is easily grown in low fertility soil, including clay. Its deep, tap root system resents disturbance once established.
