Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe ‘Eco Lacquered Spider’ has simple star-shaped yellow blooms in spring. Low rosettes of evergreen leaves produce long purple runners. A fast spreader, ‘Eco Lacquered Spider’ makes a great ground cover. Rosettes that form at the end of the stolons root down. Good erosion control plant.

Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe is native to the Gulf States, where it is commonly found at forest edges and clearings with bright filtered light, rather than dense shade.

Chrysogonum virginianum var. australe‘Eco Lacquered Spider’ prefers partial to full shade and average to dry, well-drained soil, including clay soils. Deer resistant.
